NAKUNA

Aalto University, School of Arts, Department of Design represents Finland at the Milan Design Week April 4-9th 2017. Aalto University students are producing the exhibition NAKUNA to celebrate Finland’s 100-years of independence.
NAKUNA (Fin. naked) takes the audience onto a sensory journey, an itinerary of self-discovery and lays bare the Finnish soul. The exhibition revisits the Finnish ancestral connection to the forest as a source of food, emotional sustenance and as a haven for peaceful reflection and contemplation.
Bridging art and design, with its three large-scale interactive installations LAAVU (Fin wooden shelter); IKKUNA (Fin. window) and MANIFESTI; NAKUNA brings to the visitors the colors, tastes and textures of the Finnish landscape and uncovers the roots of the indomitable Finnish spirit.
In co-operation with Habitare, Habitare will host design talks with internationally recognized designers, architects and industry forerunners. The guest speakers include names such as Sam Grawe, Sami Rintala and Maasaki Kanai.
